Hi Folks
Another fantastic weekend was had at the Bay of Islands Country Rock Festival 2025 May 9th, 10th and 11th. Big thank you to Michael and Ashley Tipping and their crew for producing such a successful festival and for inviting us to be a part of it. Well done to you all. Lots of thank you’s to do. The Mountain Mist Band, what can we say. We are so grateful for your support and dedication to our music. Thank you Richard, Ivan and Tiny and also their partners Susan, Naomi and Loie. Love you all. Thank you to the wonderful audiences at each venue that continue to support not only ourselves but all of the amazing artists that performed during the weekend. So awesome to see so many familiar faces and to catch up with old friends and share such wonderful memories of not only this festival but of the many years spent in one another’s company performing on the New Zealand country music scene. Many many joyful reminisces. Thank you to Yvonne, Donna, Jo and Craig for simply being there for us if and when needed. Thank you.
Thank you to all the sound techs that gave their time and expertise during the festival and especially to those at the venues we played at; Ben – Paihia Sports Bar, J Mac – Kingsgate Hotel, Mike and Charise – Twin Pines and Scott – Scenic Hotel great work and dedication from you all. Thank you all.
Can’t forget the Sponsors of our beautiful accommodation at Waterfalls Estate over looking the incredible Haruru Falls. Thank you Campbell, Michael and team. Your support is very much appreciated.
We had a memorable and enjoyable final night dinner at CBK with our band and their partners and joined by our very dear friends the amazingly talented “Te Whanau” Whanau; Jesse, Jane and Ngakau Robson and the ever beautiful Millie Eltringham. What a way to see the weekend off. Thank you everyone for being a part of our musical journey. We look forward to seeing you all next year or around the country music traps in the interim. Until then stay safe, look after yourselves and remember to keep it country.
Gigs coming up in June and July include the 60’s Up Convention at the Distinction Hotel Whangarei 14th June, Kamo Club Dance Section Wednesday 2nd July, South Waikato Country Music Awards, Putaruru Saturday and Sunday 12th and 13th July and the Special Olympics Fundraiser concert Sunday 27th July, Kamo Club featuring our guest artist, Dennis Marsh MNZM. January 2025
Hi Folks,
Well another year has gone by. To quickly for my liking to be honest. As many of you may be aware 2024 was a little quiet for us due to Annette’s back injury. The good news is that in September last year they performed her back surgery. Unfortunately not once but twice in ten days. Suffice to say her recovery has been slower than she would like it to be. So it’s one day at a time at the moment.
Before we look ahead to 2025 we would like to take a moment to reflect on 2024. A year that saw the passing of Annette’s Dad, John Dickson, a great supporter of not only our music but of Country Music in general and a very big fan and good friend of Dennis Marsh.
The year also saw us lose some good friends in country music and friends that supported our music as well. It was sad to say goodbye not only to Big John but to muso’s Kevin Greaves, Eddie Low and Bobby Awe (USA) and friends Anne Gordon and Fay Pomare. Their presence will be greatly missed.

On a happier note we were once again joined by “The Mountain Mist Band” to celebrate the 35th Annual Bay of Islands Country Rock Festival, thank you Richard, Ivan and Carl and a surprise presentation for being one of only two people to have performed at the very first festival and the 35th festival. The other person being the very talented Chet O’Connell.
We were also excited to be a part of the Whangarei Country Music Clubs 50th anniversary celebrations held at the Kamo Club. Annette and her family being club members back in the 1970’s and competing on the NZCMA Awards circuit in the early days.
We also fulfilled our commitments with the Kamo Club Dance Section and the Poroti Tavern during the year. Two of our favourite places to perform.
Now with 2025 ahead of us we will still be taking limited engagements as Annette continues to heal. Here are a few of them so far.
The 5th of March will see us at the Kamo Club Dance Section’s 25th birthday celebrations, May 9th, 10th, 11th we will be performing at the 36th Bay of Islands Country Rock Festival along with The Mountain Mist Band, Richard, Ivan and Tiny. June 14th we have a private gig with the 60’s Up Association’s Convention being held here in Whangarei. The weekend of the 12th and 13th July we have been invited to be Guest Artists and Judges for the South Waikato Country Music Awards held in Putaruru and which we are very much looking forward to.
We will try to keep you all up to date as to anywhere else we will be performing around the country but until then remember to Keep It Country.
Best wishes
